OUR FACILITIES

Big Spruce Campground is located 3.5 miles north of Cedaredge just 1.7 miles east of Hwy 65 on Ute Trail Road.

The campground is 7,200 feet above sea level on the south side of Grand Mesa, with rural residential property all around.

THE POINT - OUTDOOR CHAPEL

Our open-sided chapel features a large stone fireplace, stone half-wall sides and retractable canvas sides for cool days and evenings. The chapel is located within easy walking distance of the dining hall & cabins.

RESTROOMS

There is a centrally located, handicap accessible bath house facility that was built in 2007. The building features female and male restrooms with extra wide showers and private changing rooms. Ample sink and counter space makes sharing the space with a large group a breeze. Each bathroom also features a utility sink for easy cleaning and attending to little ones. There is also a private, gender neutral  handicap accessible restroom accessed via a separate door.

The cabin/dorm buildings include several 12’ X 24’ rooms with steel bunks, which can be used for Men’s and Women’s Dormitories or for larger families, and several 12’ X 12’ rooms, for smaller families. Some of the smaller rooms have built-in wooden bunks, double beds, or steel bunks. There are three small rooms adjacent to bathroom facilities. All other rooms are within 50 yards of the bathroom building.

There are 8 camper spaces with full utility hook-ups located in camper row and several locations for tents and self-contained units throughout the campground. These locations include water hook-ups and/or electricity. There are also tent areas without amenities.

Bring your own bedding, towels, and a jacket or sweater. Nights can be cool in the Colorado Mountains - even in the summer!

GROUNDS

Big Spruce is nestled in the cedars between two creeks on the side of the Grand Mesa just outside of Cedaredge, Colorado. The grounds reflect the natural beauty to be found in this portion of Colorado. With the smell of cedar and spruce in the air, quiet times for reflection can be found on benches throughout the campground, on the bridge over Milk Creek and at various lookout points facing the Delta & Montrose valley below. When the fervor of camp subsides,  you might find yourself in the company of local deer and wild turkies that frequent the grounds. At night, the Colordo sky opens up to a deep landscape full of stars and the sound of owls hooting through Surface Creek Canyon.
